30 years ago today...

In our family we have a tradition. Every year on our birthday we get a phone call from my dad and he always says the same thing.

Today, my phone call started like this, "30 years ago today, I was the happiest man alive"!

My grandpa use to say this to his kids, they still say it to us, and now I say it to mine. I love silly traditions.

We had a small dinner party tonight. Pork tacos, my favorite chips and salsa and homemade cream puffs were a couple of items on the menu. Delicious. Followed by a few intense games of Settlers of Catan.

My Valentine got me my FIRST iPod. Can you believe I am just barely getting one? He's tried a few times before, but I was never too interested. Recently, I've wanted one to make my running a bit more bearable. Also, Scott is getting tired of sharing his earphones with me while we listen to audio books in bed at night (we look like big dorks laying there together, listening).

I've been getting teased a lot about turning 30, but the thought really hasn't bothered me (that is until I find my first gray hair, then I might recant this statement). I think my 30's are going to be my best years. I'm excited about my future and feel healthier, happier and more blessed with each passing year.

I'm ready to grow older...Happy 30th Birthday to me!

Cupid left Valentine donuts for breakfast and a few little gifts for the kids. Caden wanted to know why they got presents on mom's birthday.
