Abbie eats ALL DAY LONG.
I'm not kidding or exaggerating. Usually in between breakfast and lunch she snacks three times. Then twice again before dinner. I try to hold her off as long as I can but she gets mean when she's hungry and super whiny. She finds me wherever I am, tugs on my pants and leads me to her high chair and pats it until I lift her up and lock her in. I give her yogurt, bananas, string cheese, cheerios, crackers, etc. but I am limited since she still only has two teeth.
Here's my questions...Do I keep feeding her whenever she is hungry? Do all babies know when they are full or can they over eat? Should I limit her snacking and make her wait until mealtimes? Do you think it is just a growing spurt?
HELP! I'm nervous she will develop unhealthy eating habits, I'm tired of fixing meals and snacks all day and especially tired of carrying around a broom for her messes.

It could be worse! Cole has been waking up all hours of the night screaming because he is hungry. He asks for chicken, juice, cheese...you name it! He is also climbing out of his crib and shares a room with his sister so I can't lock him in and let him cry. So Jake and I are up at 2 in the morning feeding the kid. He is always hungry! He spends his day either on his bike or in the pantry! I'm hoping it is just a growth spirt. It's getting old!
So I am guessing Abbie is going thru the same thing. Growth spirts!
I say let her it! It will probably change in a few weeks! They are so up and down- eat tons, then don't want anything! It's not like she is a LARGE kid or anything! I say as long as it's healthy- let her eat!
PS- we missed you at book club last night!
That first line should say " let her eat it!"
She is so cute.
I remember when Cole went through that stage, and now I have to pull teeth to get him to eat.
Scarlett does the same thing! She drags me to the pantry or fridge all day long! Im exited to read your comments :)
I totally say feed her. She isn't over weight, you feed her healthy stuff, and I am sure she is growing like crazy. I am sure she will have a stint when she won't eat anything. These times compensate for those. She is so dang cute!!!!!!!!
The first thing that came to my mind was that she's about to have a growth spurt. I think that's great communication for her to get you over to her high chair and express her needs. She probably really IS hungry. Frequent eating of healthy snacks is so good for the metabolism. Poor eating habits would be sitting around eating junk food and not real meals. I know, it does feel like we are cleaning up a major part of the day! It won't be like that forever... just 18 yrs or whenever she learns to clean her own messes :>
im with courtney. draven could eat snacks all day. my only probelm is he HATES baby food now. the stage three and even more the stage four stuff. i cannot get him to eat more then a few bits and he is done. i feel bad because he will pick off dave and my meals at dinner but i wonder if he is getting the right nutrients. its not like he struggles keeping his weight up by any means but um...he needs real food too right? maybe you should live closer because i KNOW he would eat if abbie was sharing her food with him! lol
Seriously make a sign "Don't feed me" and pin it on her. Then she can match me, as my mother actually did this. I may be thin now but I was a cow-toddler. But don't be scared by that. Let her feast!
