I teach Relief Society on the fourth Sunday each month and I LOVE it. It still amazes me that each month as I begin to study the conference talk that I have been assigned, I realize the topic is "spot on" to what I am struggling with at that time in my life. Last time I taught, it was on finding balance and moderation in our lives...appropriate for me, right?
This month is no different. I am teaching from President Uchtdorf's talk, "Continue In Patience" and boy is it hitting home. I've tried to avoid conversations about our plans now that we just graduated because to be honest, they've been changing A LOT and there's been a few times when we were without a plan all together. With those changes have come a lot of frustration, growth, faith, heartache, confusion, tears, peace, etc. From day to day my emotions have changed and I think it is safe to say I have been a bit of a mess.
During these last six months, Scott and I have prayed, fasted and waited for answers to help direct our lives. The answers and peace have come in our minds and hearts, but not quite yet in our physical realities. That's always confusing. To feel like you know where you should be, but can't find a way to get there. I've have to admit, I haven't been very good at being patient. It is definitely a weakness of mine, but President Uchtdorf's talk helped me to see a few things.
- If children are ever going to mature and reach their potential, they must learn to wait.
- Patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can—working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well!
- But eventually I learned that God’s promises are not always fulfilled as quickly as or in the way we might hope; they come according to His timing and in His ways. I know for sure that the promises of the Lord, if perhaps not always swift, are always certain.
- Patience means accepting that which cannot be changed and facing it with courage, grace, and faith.
Good stuff, huh?
Months ago Scott and I felt the comfort and peace of the Spirit and knew that the Lord was aware of us and our desires in life. We knew the Lord would provide for our family, we just weren't sure when or how. It's been hard, really hard. But just as President Uchtdorf stated, "the Lord's promises are not always swift, but they are certain.".
Our family finally has a plan and one that we are so thrilled about!
We've experienced so much growth and happiness here in Midway and decided we would like to stay if possible. We've spent six months searching for a small company to purchase here in Utah. We came close twice before and were extremely disapointed when things fell apart days before signing. However, as the cliche goes...everything happens for a reason...and I believe that.
Scott signed papers yesterday and will be running a company here in Utah that makes baby products. He's nervous but very excited for this opportunity and the potential. We both feel so blessed and are grateful the Lord knew what he was doing with our lives, even when we didn't.
I can now finally say, "We are employed"!

Congratulations Tara. I just hope you know what an example you set for so many of us. I am so happy to know you. Its so refreshing to hear others testimonies of faith and endurance through their personal struggles because we all have them and it is so comforting knowing were all going through similar struggles together. Thanks so much for sharing.
