Day 8

Well, we survived Halloween thanks to aunt Coco and uncle Jeff.

It rained all day and I thought for sure it would stop by the time we were ready to take the kids around the neighborhood. It didn't. It continued to rain all night. Caden was so excited to knock on doors, I couldn't tell him trick or treating was cancelled. So, we loaded the kids up in the stroller, strapped the water proof shield on and equipped ourselves with umbrellas. Abbie was hilarious. She would jump from the stroller and say "trick or treat" all the way to the front door but when the owner would answer, she didn't know what to do. She kept telling them, "Have a good night" and at one point she did some silly little dance back to the stroller while singing, "trick or treat, smell my feet". Cort and I agreed it was definitely worth getting soaked to have these moments with them. We only made it to five houses before the rain started coming down harder and the streets were getting flooded. We literally ran half a block home to avoid getting washed away.

The kids could care less it was so wet outside and begged us to keep going. They finally settled on the idea of attending our ward trunk or treat which was moved inside because of the weather.

By the time we got home for the night, the kids were so hyped up on sugar. Abbie couldn't sit still and Caden just wanted more. It took some work getting ready for bed, but they finalled settled down.

We missed Scott but were lucky to have Cortney and Jeff here to help and share this experience with us. Uncle Jeff even brought his cowboy costume to join in the fun. Thanks guys!

(We made soup and cornbread for diinner. The cornbread was DELICIOUS. You know where to go for the recipe.)
