Gratitude

A few of us from the family woke up early this morning to participate in a 5k that our town was putting on to benefit a family in our community. During the first week of school a little girl in Caden's class (and who rides the bus with him) lost her father in a car accident. Her father was a firefighter, traveling home after finishing one of his shifts, when a drunk driver hit him. He left behind a beautiful wife and two sweet daughters, ages 5 and 3.

So today, I am feeling very grateful.

It's impossible to pick only a handful of things I am grateful for because there are so many blessings in my life. Sure, I struggle with a lot of things, we all do. Things are not always perfect for me, but I am even grateful for those imperfections in my life. I am grateful for the good and the bad because I would never grow if I was never uncomfortable and made to stretch.

Speaking of uncomfortable, did I mention we did the 5k and it was only 10 degrees outside. I don't think I have ever been more cold in my life! Seriously, I could not feel my fingers, toes or face. In fact, half way through they had a stand with hot chocolate. I thought it would warm me up. Instead, when I tried to drink some, my lips were so numb they could not function and the hot chocolate dribbled down my face. I felt like I had just been to the dentist.

Be grateful today!
