We're still in Vegas. We had intentions of going home today, but my car keys went missing yesterday and after two days or tearing my mom's house apart (literally) we have come up with NOTHING. So frustrating. We had a small BBQ/swimming party at my parent's house and we're not sure if a guest accidently took them home and hasn't realized it yet, if the kids hid them and can't remember or if they were tossed out with the garbage. Although we did dumpster dive, sifted through three HUGE bags of disgusting garbage and still nothing.
Anyways, we were on our way (in a borrowed car) over to the Maxfield's tonight and Caden was talking about finding the keys (he's interested beacuse I offered the kids $20 to find them). Scott mentioned he had said a prayer and asked for help. So we began to teach Caden more abour prayer and what kinds of help he could ask for in his prayers. He decided he wanted to say a prayer right then and there and this is how it went...
"Heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for our blessings. We can't find mom's keys. We need to find mom's keys. We really need her keys to get back home. We love you. Please help us find them. Amen".
As soon as he finished he confidently proclaimed, "We'll find them now" and he is so sure about it. Of course I teared up.
I love his simple, sweet faith. I love how children trust and accept with their whole hearts the things you teach them. I love that at the age of five Caden sets a wonderful example of how I should be, a believer without doubt. I can't remember what that feels like, to be a child again, full of innocense, optimism and purity, untainted by the world we live in. I'm jealous of him but grateful his version of life is still so simple.
