It's true. I have an angel mother. Growing up my dad wasn't home alot. Between work, politics and church callings he was pretty busy but us kids never lacked for attention or anything else. I know everyone loves their mother, but mine is pretty special because...
- She doesn't like being the center of attention. Instead, she prefers to quietly take care of everyone else.
- She use to drive us all the way to Salt Lake City (from Las Vegas) to find a modest Homecoming or Prom dress.
- She opened her home up every night in high school so my friends and I would have a safe and comfortable place to hang out. And she always had the house stocked with good food for us to eat.
- In four years she NEVER missed a volleyball game. She was front and center each game with video camera in hand.
- She taught her girls how to clean, and I mean REALLY clean. Although having to clean my room and bathroom before I left for school each day was a total pain, I have an appreciation for organization and cleanliness which my husband loves.
- She lets us girls stay with her for a few weeks after we have babies so we can be babied too.
- She encouraged us to be thoughtful and considerate of other people. She never allowed us to shirk our responsiblities or take the easy way out.
There's so many more reasons why I'm blessed to be her daughter. I'm a lucky girl.
I'm also lucky to have a mother-in-law that welcomed me into her family and has always treated me like I was her own daughter. Kathey and I live together and most people assume it must be hard living with a "mother-in-law" but it is actually the opposite. We cook along side each other and eat dinner together most nights, we love playing games or watching movies at night and she is really hands on with my children which is helpful in so many ways. I love having her in the house to chat with throughout the day about anything and everything going on in my life. Kathey is the kind of mother that bends over backwards to help and she is always encouraging her family to do things together to build our relationships. I truly appreciate her selflessness, friendship and constant support.
I love motherhood.
I feel blessed to be given the opportunity to be a mother
(especially to my two adorable children).
I have a lot to learn, but I have wonderful women in my life who teach by example and I am the lucky recipient.
Happy Mother's Day!
